Información General La historia del IES Universidad Laboral de Toledo está marcada por la constante presencia de la enseñanza de idiomas. Fue el primer centro educativo de la región en establecer la enseñanza de una segunda lengua extranjera, así como de implantar la enseñanza simultánea de Francés e Inglés como primeras y segundas lenguas extrajeras. La presencia de estudiantes de otras nacionalidades e idiomas no nos es ajena. Así pues parecía lógico que sin tardar se implantaran las enseñanzas bilingües en inglés. En el curso 2009-10 se aprueba el proyecto de Secciones Bilingües para ESO y para FP en el Ciclo Formativo de Grado Superior de Guía, Información y Asistencia Turísticas, de la familia de Hostelería y Turismo. Ambos programas se desarrollan en paralelo con sus propias peculiaridades e idiosincrasia pero participan de las actividades comunes en la medida de lo posible. La impresión del alumnado y de las familias por la enseñanza recibida ha sido siempre muy positiva. El alumnado ha demostrado ser de calidad con una gran implicación en todas las actividades y proyectos que el centro educativo lleva a cabo, tales como el concurso Aula Integral, Ecoescuelas, o participando en la Olimpiada Matemática o en el concurso Big Challenge en el caso de la ESO. Por otra parte, el alumnado del ciclo de GIAT ha llevado a cabo visitas guiadas a las variadas y peculiares instalaciones del centro en inglés y español en las que también se ha colaborado con los alumnos del Ciclo de Interpretación de Lengua de Signos así como visitas guiadas por el casco histórico – Toledo walking tour – con participación de los alumnos de ESO. Se ha instalado temporalmente una Oficina de Turismo en la entrada del IES con información de la zona en inglés y español con gran participación por parte de alumnado y personal del centro. Los alumnos han colaborado con el Patronato Municipal de Turismo en el stand de Toledo en FITUR, y han realizado una ruta guiada en inglés y español en autocar por la Ruta del Quijote. Consideramos que para el éxito del programa y de los resultados conseguidos ha sido determinante la gran entrega y dedicación del profesorado implicado en los proyectos. El equipo de profesores hemos creado y desarrollado nuevos materiales y nos ha implicado en la utilización de las TIC en los procesos de enseñanza- aprendizaje. Y no paramos. Cada año aportamos algo nuevo y revisamos nuestra labor docente siempre con la intención de mejorar a pesar de las dificultades que la crisis y los recortes presupuestarios. En estos momentos estamos a la espera de la publicación de la nueva normativa por si se producen cambios significativos. | General Information The history of IES Universidad Laboral in Toledo is marked by the consistent presence of language learning. The school was the first secondary school in the region to establish the learning of a second foreign language, as well as implementing the simultaneous learning of both French and English as first and second foreign languages. The presence of students of other nationalities and languages is not foreign to us. Therefore it seemed logical that bilingual teaching in English would soon be implemented. In the school year 2009/2010 the project of the Bilingual Sections of Secondary Education and Upper Grade Vocational Training in Guiding, Information and Tourist Assistance, in the family of Hospitality and Tourism, was approved. Both programmes are developed in parallel with their own peculiarities and idiosyncrasy but participate in common activities as much as possible. The impression of students and families on the teaching they have received has always been very positive. The students have proved to be of high quality with great involvement in all the activities and projects carried out by the school, such as the Integral Classroom Contest, Eco-school, or participating in the Maths Olympics or Big Challenge contest, in the case of secondary education. On the other hand, students of the Tour Guide course have conducted guided visits to the various and peculiar facilities of the school in both English and Spanish, where they have also collaborated with students of the Interpretation of Sign Language course. These students have also conducted guided tours of the historic centre of the city, The Toledo walking tour, with the participation of secondary school students. A temporary Tourism Office was also installed in the entrance of the Universidad Laboral with information about the area in English and Spanish with great participation by the students and staff of the school. The students have collaborated with the Municipal Tourist Board at the Toledo stand at FITUR, and have given a guided tour in English and Spanish by coach on the Don Quixote route. We believe that the great delivery and dedication of the teachers involved in the projects have been vital for the success of the programme and the results achieved. The team of teachers have created and developed new materials and has involved us in the use of ICT in teaching-learning processes. And we do not stop. Every year we provide something new and we review our teaching with the intention of improving despite the difficulties of the crisis and the budget cuts.
